Philosophy of Education
My pedagogical approach as a social studies educator includes having the highest expectations of each of my students. I aim to cultivate empathetic, well-informed individuals who positively contribute to the world. My goal as a teacher is to ensure that my students are well-equipped with the skills for their future in anything they choose to pursue.
All children are unique and have diverse learning needs, which requires tailoring your pedagogy to ensure a stimulating classroom environment where they can grow intellectually, mentally, emotionally, and socially.
In my philosophy of education, there are several essential actions to follow in a learning environment.
Differentiating instruction is one of the critical aspects to pique your students' interest.
Students should be able to engage in "hands-on" learning activities collaboratively and independently.
The students can connect with and relate to social studies content.
Technology should be incorporated into the classroom so students continue to prepare for a world of technology.
The students should have a choice in their learning. Providing some activities involving choice will give students more say in their knowledge and teach them decision-making skills.
Assessments should reflect the learning objective set out for the students.
The students should receive verbal and written feedback regarding their coursework and assessments.
I aim to bring high expectations, an open mind, and a positive attitude to the classroom daily. These expectations and attitudes will rub off on my students. I owe it to myself, my students, and my community to bring consistency and hard work to my job.
