Regional High School Ethics Bowl 2024
I'm the advisor for the Ethics Bowl team (debate club) at Oceanside High School. The Ethics Bowl team participated in the Regional High School Ethics Bowl on Long Island in February 2024. Team B won the Best Open Dialogue Award for the cold case round. The Best Open Dialogue award was a new award that was added to the competition this year.
Additionally, Team A advanced to the final round of the competition, coming in second place. It is the furthest the Ethics Bowl team has gone in its history of 15 years.
Regional High School Ethics Bowl 2023
We took part in the Regionals Ethics Bowl Competiton in February of 2023 at Hofstra University. This competiton entails students engaging in discussion about philisophical scenarios. They have to prove their side of the argument by using evidence from the assigned case. One case was about an artificial intelligence robot and whether AIs are sentient. The students from each schools had to have a back and forth discussion to prove their argument.

Law Club (Mock Trial Club) - Long Island Mentor Moot Court Competition 2023
The Law Club (Mock Trial) participated in the Long Island Mentor Moot Court Competition in November 2023. The students had to prepare opening oral arguments to present before a judge. This gave students insight into public speaking and the ability to deliver arguments with evidence to support their claims proficiently.
Nassau County Bar Association Mock Trial 2023
We participated in the Nassau County Bar Association Mock Trial 2023. We advanced up to the third round of the competition. This competition entails prepping for a trial where students switch sides each round, for one week they were on the plaintiff side. In the next round, they were on the defense side. The students prepared detailed outlines of their arguments.
