Participation in Gov./Economics
Participation in Government/Economics
This was a lesson on 1st Amendment rights within the U.S. Constitution. At the beginning of the lesson, the students identified five rights guaranteed to all citizens. The students identified limits to individuals' 1st Amendment rights based on scenarios provided to them for group work.

I had the students create presidential stump speeches as if they were running for president to present in front of the class. The students were told to choose three issues/topics to discuss in their papers. This shows three topics that one student decided to discuss in her stump speech.

I taught a Government/Economics class. One of the requirements of the school year for these students was to do a civics readiness project and present it to the class. The civics readiness project entails making students more actively participate in their community.
This project involved students picking a topic/issue that they would like to make a change in. This student chose climate change on Long Island and its effects on marine life.
They would also have to put forth some action to show how they were attempting to make a change locally for their chosen issue. This particular student opted to create impactful posters, and she posted them all over Long Island.
